Аннотация:Highly estimated and termed ‘Father of modern Indian philosophy’, Rammohun Roy (1772—1833) for the first time is represented as the true philosopher, the creator of modern philosophical thought in India. Being the reformer and public man, he relied in his activity on the philosophical approaches, ideas and meanings, which are included in his writings on the different themes. In ‘Rammohun Roy, the First Philosopher of the Indian Renaissance’ Tatiana Skorokhodova examines his intellectual image in the context of Indian—Western dialogue. Based on hermeneutics of his texts, the reconstruction of Rammohun’s thought as regular and whole philosophy is a remarkable achievement.
